A Florida man tried to switch seats with the passenger in his car to get out of a DUI. Unfortunately, it didn’t fool anybody it sounds like.
The incident happened in Volusia County after the guy tried to switch places with his female passenger after getting in a crash, according to reports. Apparently, law enforcement was able to see through the trick and he was arrested and charged with the DUI he was trying to avoid.
Don’t Switch Seats To Try To Get Out Of A DUI
I’ve seen stuff like this happen on TV, notably the episode of Arrested Development when Lucille puts Michael behind the wheel after her accident to avoid getting in any trouble. This time, it’s not a fictional TV show. It actually happened according to reports!
According to FOX 35 Orlando, 59-year-old Lance Green has been arrested on charges of DUI and resisting an officer without violence after driving under the influence in Volusia County. The crash that started it all happened at the intersection of Williamson Boulevard and Taylor Road. FOX 35 Orlando reports a Ram pickup truck rear-ended a Ford truck and Green who was driving the Ram switched seats with his female passenger, Susan Green, to try to make it look like Susan was driving and not Lance. The driver of the Ford that was hit from behind was injured but declined any medical attention at the scene.
FOX 35 Orlando says Lance showed signs of impairment and was ordered to leave the vehicle multiple times but refused. Eventually, he complied to exit the vehicle but refused a breath test along with certain DUI tests due to claimed back and hip problems, per FOX 35 Orlando. He was taken into custody and booked into Volusia County Jail. At the time, you might think switching seats with your passenger might sound like a good idea but you have to know that the officers in their patrol cars can see what you’re doing up there and are trained to notice any movement. You are very unlikely to fool anybody by trying this. Life is not Arrested Development as entertaining as that would be.
You can see Green’s mugshot provided by the Volusia County Jail below. He looks like the kind of guy who would enjoy fishing. I’m not sure if he does, but he has that look to him. Then, you can keep scrolling for more Florida man stories heard on Dave & Chuck The Freak.
Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
